Today started with a short lived trip to the casino to play some slots. We promptly lost five bucks and called it a day. We then packed up the car and headed east through Hoover Dam with a final destination of the Grand Canyon. The Hoover Dam was spectacular. Since Jason had last visited the Hoover Dam things have changed with the construction of the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. It is the largest concrete arched bridge in the Western Hemisphere and stands 880 feet from the ground. It offered the best and most breathtaking view of the dam! We left the Hoover Dam around noon and made our way to the Grand Canyon with a quick stop in Kingman, AZ for lunch at an In-N-Out which we were told we had to try by a friend of Jason’s from PT school. The Grand Canyon was absolutely breathtaking. This is Jason’s third trip to the Grand Canyon and it’s just as amazing now as his first. We made our way to Hopi Point for a short 1 mile hike to watch the sunset. We feel so blessed to have this opportunity to see God’s magnificent creations first hand. Tomorrow we will start the day with a helicopter tour of the Canyon, which we are very much looking forward to! After that we plan on having a picnic along a hike and then I’m sure we will watch another sunset!
