We spent the day at the San Diego Zoo. It was crazy to think that a zoo that big is in the middle of a big city. We spent 5+ hours looking at all the animals. Jason’s favorite was the brown bear, which was pacing in the front of the exhibit the whole time we were watching. We actually went by the bears exhibits earlier in the day and couldn’t see any of them. We decided to try again…and we were glad we did. Following closely in second, was the polar bear. We watched it play with a ball in the water…from above and below the water. My favorite was the baby giraffe. It was so cute sitting under the momma giraffe. We also got to watch an elephant get a pedicure…yes, I said a pedicure.
After the long day at the zoo, we returned to the hotel for a little rest. We decided to go to the beach for dinner and sunset. After an hour and a half of looking around for a safe place to eat, we ended up in Pacific Beach. We ate dinner at the Pacific Beach Ale House, which was located right on the beach. Immediately following dinner, we went out to the beach for a short walk and to watch the sunset. It was beautiful. Jason was brave enough to even put his feet in the freezing water of the Pacific Ocean. I, however, was already too cold to do it.
Tomorrow, we are driving up to San Luis Obispo via the Pacific Coast Highway.
